About Our Church

Our Mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the
world.

The name of Methodist Episcopal Church South sounds
unfamiliar to many people today.  But that name was an
important name in 1871 (when the Groesbeck Methodist
Episcopal Church South was established).  Every immigrant
settling in the area of Limestone County, Texas, knew already or
would soon know about the Methodist Episcopal Church South,
for the denomination led all others in the county, as well as the
state.

The current building was completed in 1939 and has served the
Groesbeck community since that time.  The building was listed
with the Texas Historical Commission in 1991 and is listed as a
United Methodist Historic site.

We are a member of the Central District of the Central Texas
Conference.

FUMC - Groesbeck embraces the five practices of a fruitful
congregation:

  1. Radical Hospitality
  2. Passionate Worship
  3. Intentional Faith Development
  4. Risk-Taking Mission & Service
  5. Extravagant Generosity
